Evolving from Saskatoon folk artist Geoffrey Smith’s one-man vision, Gunner & Smith has emerged as an indie-country-rock outfit with their own unique sound culled from influences as diverse as roots, pop and psychedelia. Smith’s haunting baritone and shadowy lyrics are unmistakable touchstones that tie the songs together.
The band’s reputation as a killer live act has grown from their beginnings in 2010, playing relentlessly at home in Saskatchewan and expanding organically across the country, with forays into the US. Gunner & Smith cut their teeth at festivals including OMFEST, MoSo Fest, Lilac Festival and the prestigious Ness Creek Festival. On the road they’ve shared the stage with Del Barber, Devin Cuddy, The Elwins, Said the Whale, Deep Dark Woods and many more. In support of their latest release the band toured Canada four times and performed official showcases at Folk Alliance International in Kansas City and NXNE in Toronto.
After 2 independent EPs, Gunner & Smith released their debut full-length album He Once Was a Good Man in 2014, earning raves in print, radio chart positions, and multiple TV appearances on Gobal and CTV. Hitting the studio again in 2016, the band will present their best material yet in the sophomore release
